Roundup, a popular weed killer, is an effective product when used correctly. Gardeners and homeowners find that the active ingredient, Glyphosate isoproplymine salt, is successful in eliminating unwanted vegetation, from weeds to grass. The systemic action of Roundup causes it to be absorbed through the green parts of the plant and distributed to the root system. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Significance

    • Roundup is non-selective in destroying vegetation, which makes it useful for many types of applications. It will kill any green plant regardless of the species, which makes it ideal for getting rid of weeds in a garden or edging around a walkway.

    Function

    • Since Roundup works by systematically moving through the plant to the roots, the soil is not affected. It can be safely used just before seeding or laying sod on a new lawn.

    Time Frame

    • After applying Roundup, it may take up to 10 days to see the vegetation die.

    Warning

    • Since the active ingredient needs to travel to the root system, if too much Roundup is applied to the top of the plants, the pathway to the root system may be destroyed.

    Time Frame

    • When using Roundup, choose a day when the air temperature is at least 60 degrees and there is no wind.

    Warning

    • Roundup is toxic if ingested.
