AARP is a membership organization for people older than 50. The organization lobbies for seniors and negotiates rates with insurance companies to offer members discounts and groups benefits. AARP is not an insurance company but recommends various plans to its members. AARP represents its members in Washington and at insurance-industry events to impact health care policy and to find additional health care benefits for its members.
