What to Bring to Navy Boot Camp
The Navy has strict rules about what recruits are allowed to bring to boot camp. Recruits should limit luggage to one small suitcase or bag and remember that all items not on the approved list will be mailed home at the recruit's expense.
-
Necessary Paperwork
-
All Navy recruits need to bring the essential paperwork and documents, including a driver's license or photo ID, Social Security card and a direct deposit sign-up slip. If applicable, you need your passport, marriage certificate, birth certificates for all your children, divorce documents and alimony and child support decrees.
Undergarments
-
In addition to the civilian clothes you arrive in, recruits should bring two pairs of socks. Men need two pairs of underwear, and women need six pairs of white cotton panties. Women also need to bring one bra and one sports bra if they wear a size larger than 40DD.
-
Medications
-
Bring all prescription medications. All medications should be properly labeled.
Money
-
Recruits are allowed to bring no more than $50 in cash to boot camp. Also bring credit and debit cards and your checkbook.

Recruits can bring some personal items, including a small Bible, a prepaid calling card, postage stamps and an address book. Jewelry must be limited to a wedding ring, a watch and religious medallions.
