What Is a Nintendo Wii?
The Nintendo Wii is an electronic gaming console that uses wireless controllers that respond to players' physical motions. For example, in a game of boxing, the user must actually mimic boxing actions to fight his on-screen opponent. In a game of bowling, the user moves the controller as he would roll a bowling ball (without letting go, of course).

Nintendo introduced the Wii in September 2006. The Japanese electronic game manufacturer has been the recognized leader in video-game production since its debut with electronic games in the late 1970s. The Wii, however, was unleashed as technology expanded, demand increased and creativity took control.

Some may think that a full range of motion is necessary for the Wii to properly respond. Not so. A small flick of the wrist will suffice for a full overhead tennis serve. The Wii hasn't figured out motion size yet.

Since its release, the Wii has spawned hundreds of games. The classics, including the Mario collection and movie games, are still available. But there are also are new games or the twists on the old favorites, including Wii Fit, Don King Boxing and Mario Kart Wii.
