Sports Announcer Jobs

Sports announcers are often journalists who have a specialty in radio or television. They often perform their work live. Some sports announcers write for local or national television or radio shows. There are many sports announcer jobs that cover events.

  1. Color Commentator

    • Color commentators are usually experts in the game and analyze the game as it proceeds.

    Sideline Reporter

    • A sideline reporter gets news and information about the players as they are on the field. These jobs are a starting point for those who want to be a play-by-play announcer.

    Play-by-Play Announcer

    • Play-by-play announcers are hired for their ability to articulate well. They are tasked with describing the game in detail and assist the color commentator.

    Radio Broadcaster

    • A radio broadcaster does play-by-play or color commentary on radio. Since radio is not visual like television, radio broadcasters must be craftier with their words.

    News Sportscaster

    • The nightly sportscaster on the local news is also classified as a sports announcer.
