Facts About Cruise Ships

Cruise ships are a popular way to travel. You can travel, have fun and relax at the same time. These luxury liners are meant solely for recreational purposes. They are widely popular across the world, although certain areas see more cruise interests than others. Cruise ships range in size and have varied amenities, with newer ships offering many more amenities for passengers.

  1. Amenities

    • Cruise ships have much to offer passengers--everything from restaurants, bars and dance clubs to pools and lounge areas. Some cruise ships also have activities like rock climbing walls, and nearly all are equipped with libraries and even a movie theater.

    Pacific Princess

    • Modern cruise boats became so popular to travelers with the help of the Pacific Princess, the cruise boat used in the 1970s television show, "The Love Boat." This show caused a spike in cruise bookings, which led to an increase in the number of cruise ships being manufactured.

    Freedom Class

    • There are three Freedom Class Cruise boats, the largest of them all in existence today and they are all owned by the Royal Caribbean cruise line. These are 1,112-feet long and rise 209 feet above ocean level.

    Staffing

    • Cruise ships are like large, floating hotels, and they have a full staff to take care of it. Staff members from executive chefs to performers all reside on the cruise boat.

    Pollution

    • Pollution is a major concern with cruise boats. Because of the large numbers of people on board, sewage and gray water problems are much worse than with other boats and could cause harm to the environment.
