Twin quilts are made to fit on twin-sized beds. They must be large enough to cover the top of a twin bed completely, but they may vary in size, depending on the hand length of the quilt on each side of the bed and the type of quilt that is made.

    History

  1. Quilts have been made since at least ancient Egyptian times and possibly since before recorded history.
  2. Features

  3. Quilts are a bed covering that can come in an unlimited numbers of designs. Many are made from color blocks of various sizes either randomly arranged or arranged to create a larger pattern.
  4. Types

  5. A standard twin mattress in North America is 39 inches wide by 75 inches long. A twin quilt must be at least this size to cover the mattress, but most are larger to accommodate a drop on each side.
  6. Size

  7. Quilts that are made with a 12-inch drop on the sides of the mattress are generally made 64 inches wide by 99 inches long.
  8. Identification

  9. A twin quilt constructed with 12-inch pattern blocks will need 42 blocks. If you are using 15-inch or 16-inch blocks, you will need 35. In a quilt with 18-inch blocks, you will need 24.
