What Is a DJ Mixer?
A DJ mixer is an audio mixing console that is used by disc jockeys to play music. A DJ mixer is different from other audio mixers because it has a crossfader and the ability to redirect a non-playing source of music into headphones. A crossfader allows for an easier transition between two music sources.

Function
-
A DJ mixer generally has between 2 and 6 different stereo channels for mixing and connecting audio sources. The channels in a DJ mixer have a phono input with RIAA equalization, and these are used for the turntables in a DJ mixer.
History
-
In the 1960s, Rudy Bozak was the pioneer of creating and designing DJ mixing equipment.
-
Warning
-
Most DJ mixers have a one volume control for all outputs or separate controls for each output. You need to be careful, though, because not every recording output has a volume control.
Features
-
There are two or more outputs in a DJ mixer, which send signals to the amplifier and to the public address system. This allows the music to mix together and be streamlined in an artistic way.
Fun Fact
-
DJ mixers were first created to make sure that dancers didn't leave the dance floor or stop dancing in between songs.
