- One of the social benefits of teamwork is personal satisfaction in seeing a project through completion with a set of people. As parts are given out and bits and pieces come in to make a whole, each team member gets the social benefit of the goal attained and the personal satisfaction that they were a contributing part of the overall process.
- Another social benefit of teamwork is the self-identification a group project can give to each individual team member. Through following specific tasks and contributing to a group, we learn more about ourselves and how we function as workers and socially as human beings.
- Different strengths and weaknesses are realized when working as a group on a project. Teams working together can self-discover true potential and also weaknesses, which help future projects and just life in general. For example, a member of a group may discover a public speaking ability, while another may excel at artwork. There is great potential for creativity when people are in a team situation.
- Relationships are developed and tested, for teamwork is not always easy. Through teamwork we learn our role in society--are we leaders or followers? Independent or dependent thinkers? Teamwork pushes us to the limits to decide where we function best.
- Working with a difficult team member is another great social benefit. It teaches how to work with other difficult members of our lives, such as family members, co-workers, spouses and others we encounter through the journey of life.
