There are three main types of weighted putters and three different lengths of putters to choose from. Your choice will depend on how strong of a player you are, whether you have a solid back swing and follow through stroke, and how much wrist action you have while playing. In choosing a putter, you may also take into consideration the type of green you're playing on and any medical concerns you may have.

    Peripheral Weighed Putter

  1. A peripheral weighted putter is good to use if your follow-through stroke is not straight on, as the head is not weighted.
  2. Mallet Putter

  3. A Mallet putter has a larger head that is weighted. You may benefit from using this putter if your follow through is straight.
  4. Blade Putter

  5. The blade putter is the most common type of putter. The face is balanced, and it is good to use on almost any type of green.
  6. The Belly Putter

  7. Belly putters have a longer shaft than conventional putters, but they may help you if you have too much wrist action in your putting. The shaft of the putter rests on your belly, hence the name.
  8. The Long Putter

  9. The long putter may be a good choice for you if you have back issues. Also, due to its length, you most likely will not have to worry about too much wrist action.
  10. The Conventional Putter

  11. You may wish to utilize a conventional putter if you are confident of your wrist action and are not distracted easily while putting.
