Blackheads are essentially clogged pores filled with oil and dead skin cells. Although not a serious problem, blackheads can cause self-consciousness and embarrassment for those who are afflicted with them. If left untreated, blackheads can result in pimples and cysts. However, proper skin care and home remedies can both reduce and prevent blackheads.

    Masks

  1. A mask will help to deep clean your skin and draw the impurities out. Try combining two tablespoons of yogurt, two drops of lavender oil, two tablespoons of green clay, two drops of lemon juice and one tablespoon of honey. Add water to make a paste and allow it to dry on your skin.
  2. Exfoliants

  3. An exfoliant will help remove excess oil from your skin. Sugar is known as an excellent natural exfoliant; however, you can also make a scrub by combining two tablespoons of almond meal, one tablespoon of ground lemon rind and three tablespoons of milk.
  4. Oils

  5. The right oils can be beneficial in treating blackheads due to their antibacterial and antiseptic properties. Cedar wood oil, sandalwood oil, coconut oil and jojoba oil are all effective home remedies.
  6. Makeup

  7. Some ingredients in make up aggravate sensitive skin. To prevent blackheads, use water-based and non-comedogenic skincare products and avoid those containing lanolin, parabens, glycol and petroleum.
  8. Diet

  9. Water is an important part of any diet, but drinking eight to ten glasses daily will also help to wash away toxins and open your pores. To help with your water consumption, try to eat fruits with a high water content, such as melons and cucumbers.
