About Wedding Florists

Florists have trained and worked hard to provide beautiful blooms for your wedding day. They have collaborated with you to design elaborate arrangements, either in their shop or in their house. Florists work all year long, sometimes sacrificing family to work the busiest holidays of the year to meet customers' needs so that they can have what they need to make their weddings pretty.

    Training

  1. To become a wedding florist, florists must take classes at a floral design school, making sure that the school is licensed by the State Commission, and that the teacher is accredited. Florists take classes in creative techniques and designs in order to earn their certificate in Floristry.
  2. Skills

  3. A florist should be able to "read" her customers and have a good eye for what they want. She must have artistic talent and be able to design floral arrangements to a customer's specifications. She should possess good financial skills and good negotiating tactics to know when to complete a sale.
  4. Work Location

  5. A wedding florist could work in a well-known shop, or he could work privately out of his own house. Florists spend a lot of time in a work area on their feet when designing floral arrangements for your wedding.
  6. When to Book

  7. Florists have their busiest seasons near the holidays, such as Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter and Mother's Day, so if your wedding is near one of those prime days, book extra early, especially if you have a preferred florist in mind. Remember, florists mark up the price of flowers, especially roses, at those holidays so expect to pay prime rate for your blooms.
  8. Reviews

  9. Word of mouth is still the best review and recommendation for a florist. Some florists will let you see past reviews. However, you can always ask online or check "Wedding Flowers" magazine to see reviews or recommendations of florists all over the country.
