iPod Vs Zen

The Apple iPod and the Zen offer the same capabilities as far as portable players are concerned. Both offer players in 4MB, 8 MB, 16MB and 32MB. However, the two devices have subtle differences. The differences between the Apple iPod and Zen are cosmetic and functional.

Size

The Zen is small, about the size of a standard credit card whereas iPods come in all sizes and shapes.

Memory

If an owner of a Zen needs more memory, he can add it to the device, whereas an iPod owner cannot add more memory.

FM Radio

The Zen device offers an AM/FM function and a built-in antennae-like device that tracks the closest signals. The iPod does not offer this feature.

Music Software

A Zen can be synced with Apple iTunes and Zen Media Player. Windows Media Player can be synced with the Zen player if the music was ripped from a CD. An iPod can only sync to iTunes.

Unprotected Tracks

The Zen can sync and play music that was burned or ripped through an unprotected process of copyright, meaning bands or musicians did not allow for the music to be played under certain conditions. ITunes can ban the process of syncing material that is unprotected.
