Acupressure Points for Stress
Stress is a by-product of an emotional overload as a result of emotional or physical threats. It can cause bodily reactions, including muscle tension, headaches, quickened heart beat and overall change in mood. For some, these reactions to stressors can be chronic and affect a person's quality of life overall.
Acupressure, however, can be a start in helping alleviate stress and relax the body.

Alleviating stress
-
The art of acupressure can help the body relax, which is one of the keys to counteracting stress. It can help curtail symptoms from becoming chronic, if instituted early enough when the symptoms begin (for example, when a headache starts, begin acupressure techniques).
When stress is reduced, many positive things come from it. The immune system is able to fight illnesses more effectively and people tend to feel better overall once stress is lowered.
Success rate
-
According to the World Center for EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), there's an 80 percent success rate from using acupressure techniques to reduce stress. They suggest using acupressure in conjunction with positive thinking techniques, healthy food choices, an increase in exercise and more overall relaxation.

Before surgery
-
Acupressure has been shown as a technique to reduce preoperative stress in children. The website Medpage Today reported a 9 percent reduction in anxiety levels for children before surgery from the use of an adhesive bead placed in the pressure points between the eyebrows. To read the complete results for the study, please see the Resources section.
Three points
-
There are three points on the body that are acupressure spots, which reduce stress.
The first is called Acupoint 11, which is on the crease of the inner wrist and parallel to the little finger.
The second is Acupoint 15, located on the middle finger, just above the nail bed and toward the side closest to the forefinger.
The third is Acupoint 21, just below the ball of the foot within the sole.
Activating Acupoints
-
The above acupoints on both sides of the body should be activated by pushing on each of them for a minute. When done consistently, overall stress will be alleviated.
