Benefits of the Internet in School

The Internet is a wonderful tool that allows instantaneous communication. There are many benefits of having Internet available in school--for both the students and the teachers. The Internet allows both the students and the teachers to gain insight to resources and information that will help aid with teaching and gaining a better understanding of new subject matter.

Research

Having Internet access allows for easy research regarding projects relating to classwork. Classwork that requires research, such as information on bibliographies, history reports and literature pieces, can be looked up on the Internet during study hour at school.

News

For teachers who need to stay up on current events such as those who teach world history or social studies, having access to a news site, such as CNN or MSNBC, keeps the class to date with world events.

Checking Grades

Many schools offer programs, such as eSchoolPLUS and Edline, which are online programs accessed via the Internet that allow teachers to display grades and homework assignments instantly to students.

Emailing School Staff

Having Internet available in school allows students to communicate with school staff even if they are not in that class at that time.
