What Foods Contain Proteins?

A healthy diet consists of proportional amount of carbohydrates, proteins and fats. The Department of Agriculture (USDA) recommends a daily intake of about 2000 calories, of which about 50 grams (or 200 calories) need to come from proteins. Protein is found in a number of foods.

    Bacon

  1. Eating meat is an easy way to get protein. 3 slices of bacon have about 6 grams of protein.
  2. Chicken

  3. Poultry--typically leaner that beef--offers tons of protein, often with much less fat. 3 ounces of cooked chicken breast equals about 26 grams of protein.
  4. Fish

  5. Fish has a number of health benefits, including protein. 3 ounces of canned tuna has about 22 grams of protein.
  6. Eggs

  7. Eggs have a ton of amino acids as well as being an excellent source for protein. 1 egg has about 6 grams of protein.
  8. Milk

  9. Most dairy products have some protein. 1 cup of 2% milk has about 8 grams of protein.
  10. Beans

  11. Beans are an excellent source of fiber and protein. Plus, they're a great meat substitute for vegetarians. Soybeans are an especially good choice. A half cup of boiled soybeans has about 14 grams of protein.
