Tools Needed to Replace a Toilet Seat

Most individuals will change their toilet seat for two basic reasons: appearance or comfort. If the seat has become damaged, or cracked repairing will quickly be a priority. Whatever the reason, replacing a toilet seat is easily done in a few simple steps. Having the necessary tools on hand will insure a quick fix.

Measuring

Before purchasing a new seat begin by measuring the existing seat with a measuring tape. The two basic sizes include round (16 inches), or elongated (18 inches).

Screw Driver

A screw driver will be needed to pry open the bolt caps.

Adjustable Wrench

Using the screw driver, turn the bolt while securing the nut with the wrench.

Scrub Pad

Lift off the old seat and clean the area with the scrub pad. There will typically be some debris around the mounting holes.

Install

Using the above tools the new seat is now ready to be installed.
