Benefits of Automobile Tune Ups

For several reasons, vehicles should get tune ups every 30,000 miles or every 2 years. Traditionally, the most basic tune up involved replacing spark plugs, but now many other maintenance services are included as well, and should also be performed if the automobile owner does a tune up work at home.

Parts Replacement

  • A main benefit of automobile tune ups is the mechanic's inspection of the vehicle and the replacement of any parts needed, including the spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, ignition rotor, fuel filter, belts, fluids and air filter.

Better Performance

  • Replacing these parts prevents roadside breakdowns, stalling, difficulty starting the engine and rough idling.

Emission Reduction

  • This maintenance also has the benefit of reducing emissions and fumes.

Gas Mileage

  • Replacing spark plugs, and other dirty and worn parts, increases gas mileage.

Resale Value

  • If a vehicle owner decides to sell the car outright, regular maintenance with the associated paperwork adds to the vehicle's value.
