About Work Permits for Minors
A work permit is legal permission for 14 or 15-year-olds (depending on state laws) up to 18 years old to work. You don't need a work permit for some jobs. But for many you will need to have a work permit if you're under the age of 18. When you get the work permit it will list every thing you need to know about getting a job if you are under 18.

You do not need a workers permit for jobs in the garden, or orchards that are owned by your parent or guardian. Work around the house, volunteer work, or yard work are other jobs that you do not need a work permits for.
Need a Work Permit

You will need a work permit for jobs at convenient stores, factories, gate keepers, public pools and warehouses. You will also need a work permit for jobs in restaurants, bakeries and other food-related businesses.

There are different jobs for different age ranges. Depending on your state laws younger teens will probably not be able to work the same jobs as older teens.
Hours and Shifts

Each state has a different amount of hours for underage workers. Some states have different hours for different age groups and some have a flat schedule that underage workers can work. Most work permits say that workers under 18 can only work part-time shifts, and specify how late the teen can work as well.
Where and How to Get a Work Permit

You can find state worker's permits at local middle or high schools. If you are homeschooled or attend a private school, you will need to go to a local public middle or high school to get one. Just contact the school board for more information.
Most states require a parent signature, your birth certificate and social security number to get a minor work permit.
