UK Postage Rates

Whether you are a British citizen, doing business in the UK, or just a tourist looking to mail a post card, you will need to deal with the UK's Royal Mail rates. Fortunately, these rates are straightforward and easy to understand, if a bit on the expensive side.

Personal Letters

First class personal mail costs 36 pence, or 52 pence for a large letter. Second class rates are 27 pence and 42 pence respectively. These rates cover any printed matter in an envelope weighing up to 100 g.

Special Delivery

Next Day letter delivery is £4.60, and 9 a.m. Next Day delivery is £10.30.

International Mail

Letters sent by airmail start at 50 pence, with registered air mail letters costing the standard airmail rate plus £4.20.

Packets

Packets are mailed boxes meant for items such as a single big book, and should not exceed about 610 by 460 by 460 mm. The weight limit for second class is 1 k, with no weight limit on first class packets.

Parcels

Anything larger than a packet is a parcel. These may be up to 1.5 m long and weigh 20 k, and prices start at £4.20 for 1 k.
