For Black people, wearing a natural hairstyle means choosing one that does not involve harsh chemicals that alter the natural state of the hair. With hair free from relaxers and texturizers, natural hair can be transformed into many styles. From 'fros (afros) to locs to kinky twists and more, the curly texture of black hair allows for a plethora of hairstyle options.

    Afros

  1. An afro, 'fro, blowout or bush is a hairstyle that consists of picking out or "blowing out" (blow drying with a comb attachment) black hair in a manner that typically takes on a round shape.
  2. Cornrows

  3. Cornrows are a braided hairstyle that requires the hair to be lifted and incorporated into braids affixed flat against the scalp much like a row in a cornfield.
  4. Dreadlocks

  5. Locs, dreads or dreadlocks are fused sections of hair that require no combing, but do require maintenance such as twisting the roots of the hair, washing and moisturizing.
  6. Double Strand Twists

  7. Double strand twists involve two parts of sectioned hair wrapped around each other to create an intertwined look.
  8. Bantu Knots

  9. Bantu knots are tightly twisted sections of hair which are twirled around until they can no longer be twisted and are then made to lie against the scalp in a knot.
