Virtual makeovers are programs, purchased or free, that allow you to test out changes to your appearance before you make them. They can be used with your own picture or with a similar looking model's picture.

To begin a virtual makeover, you will need a photograph of yourself looking straight at the camera. If you do not have a good picture of yourself, you can use a model as a stand-in.

Virtual makeovers allow you to change your hair color and style. Because of that, you can test dramatic length and color changes without actually changing your appearance.

Makeup

Many programs also let you test out makeup colors to see which look best on your skin and to try out new, dramatic looks. This also lets you see whether the new hairstyle would look good with a particular palate of colors.

Some programs have clothing options so that you can test out new clothing styles, and also see if the clothing would look good with your new virtual hair and makeup. You could also use this feature to see if the current clothes you have match your projected hair color.

Many virtual makeover programs allow you to change your eye color to see whether a particular color contact lens will look good.

Some programs even allow you to test out how certain cosmetic surgeries would change your appearance, and whether a particular change would look good with your existing features.
