Low Carb, Low Calorie & High Fiber Foods

  1. Why Low Carb?

    • Low-carbohydrate foods are denser than high-carb foods. They help make you feel full. Low-carb foods also don't cause your blood sugar levels to rise as high as high-carb foods do, because they have less starch and sugar, and more fiber.

    Meat

    • Meat is low in carbs. Some meat can have a lot of calories and not as much fiber. The best choices for low-carb, low-calorie and high-fiber meats are fish like salmon and skinless chicken breasts.

    Vegetables

    • Low-carb vegetables are low in fat and high in fiber. Some low-carb vegetables include spinach, broccoli and green beans.

    Grains

    • Choose whole grain products to lower carbohydrate counts. Whole grain bread and pasta are high in fiber and low in calories.

    Fruit

    • You can eat fruit even if you are doing a low-carb diet. Stick with fresh fruit like berries for a low-calorie, lower-carb choice.

    Snacks

    • Low-carb, low-calorie and high-fiber snacks can be hard to find. A good choice is nuts. Nuts give you a satisfying crunch and are full of good fats.
