Gas Mileage of Full Size SUVs

The price of gas has become a major concern for motorists in today's economy, and as such, individuals looking to purchase new motor vehicles have to take mileage per gallon into consideration. Still, many people still want to enjoy the comfort and safety provided by sports utility vehicles as well. Fortunately, for those interested, CarsDirect provides listings of gas mileage of full size SUVs for 2008 and 2009.

  1. 14/20 MPG SUVs

    • The 2009 Chevrolet Suburban 1500, the 2009 Ford Expedition and Ford Expedition EL, and the 2009 GMC Yukon XL 1500 all have fuel economy ratings of 14 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway.

    14/19 MPG SUVs

    • Four other full-sized SUVs--the 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe, the 2009 GMC Yukon and both the 2008 and 2009 Chrysler Aspen, also get 14 mpg in the city but are slightly worse on the highway (19 mpg).

    13/18 MPG SUVs

    • The 2008 and 2009 Toyota Land Cruisers are rated by CarsDirect as getting 13 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway.

    14/17 MPG SUVs

    • The 2008 Sequoia, also made by Toyota, fairs better than the Land Cruisers in the city (14 mpg) but worse on the highways (17 mpg).

    12/18 MPG SUVs

    • The lowest rated SUVs among those vehicles with gas mileage ratings listed on the CarsDirect website are the 2008 Ford Expedition, the 2008 Ford Expedition EL and the 2009 Nissan Armada. Each of these full size SUVs get a gas mileage of 12 in the city and 18 on the highways.
