Cures for Heartburn & Vomiting

Heartburn and nausea are two common ailments. Often nausea and heartburn are caused by the same antagonist, stomach acid. Getting rid of the heartburn often removes the nausea as well, although sometimes further or separate remedies must be used.

  1. Pickle Juice

    • Pickle juice is a home remedy used to stop heartburn. Sip 1/2 cup of pickle juice, and eat a pickle or two. This works with sweet pickles as well.

    Antacid

    • The calcium in antacids such as Tums works great in reducing acid reflux. Prilosec also will help, but it needs to be taken daily.

Apple Cider Vinegar and Baking Soda

    • Apple cider vinegar and baking soda work together to cure heartburn. Add 2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar and 1/4 tsp. baking soda to a glass of warm water. Sip the mixture slowly.

    Tea and Toast

    • Sipping hot tea and eating plain toast is known to diminish nausea. Be sure that the toast is plain and not buttered.

    Crackers

    • Eating saltine crackers will reduce nausea. Eat them slowly, one at a time, until the queasiness fades.

    Benadryl

    • According to WebMD, Benadryl, an antihistamine, also works to reduce nausea. It should be taken in the correct dosage for height and weight.
