Reasons for Pain in Lower Left Side

Abdominal Pain can cause awful pain as anyone who suffers from it knows, and while we may not always know for sure the cause or the source of our pain, it does help us to be informed of some that are well-known to cause pain in the Lower Left Side.

Ectopic Pregnancy

An Ectopic Pregnancy begins like a normal pregnancy with a missed period, and extra fullness of the breasts, but things soon go wrong. The ectopic pregnancy almost always happens in the fallopian tubes and the fertilized egg cannot survive, causing the woman to experience vaginal bleeding, cramping in the pelvic region, and pain in the lower left side of her abdomen.

Inguinal Hernia

Inguinal Hernias happen when soft tissue, often part of the intestine, breaks through a tear of the lower abdomen wall, which can result in rather painful bulge, especially when bend or cough. Your doctor will mostly likely recommend surgery to prevent any complications.

Kidney Infection

Kidney Infections start off as Urinary Tract Infections (UTI’s) through the urethra, though if not treated can progress into a kidney infection. A kidney infection must be treated promptly because the infection could spread to your kidneys and damage your bloodstream and become life-threatening.

Ulcerative colitis

Ulcerative colitis, an Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) causes chronic inflammation of the digestive tract, and causes people to suffer from diarrhea and abdominal pain. Unlike Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative colitis only affects the innermost lining of your large intestine.

If your appendix gets inflamed and filled with pus, you may be suffering from Appendicitis. The pain begins by your navel then works its way to your lower abdomen. The pain intensifies over a 6 to 12 hour time period, often becoming severe.
