Drug Rehab Facts

Many people who are looking to overcome drug addiction wonder about drug rehabilitation (drug rehab) facts. Some of the biggest questions include the cost, length and success rate of drug rehab programs. All of these factors vary widely depending upon the particular drug rehab selected. Do your homework before selecting a drug rehab facility. Here are some drug rehab facts to get you started.

  1. Cost

    • The cost for drug rehab varies widely, depending upon the program. Some are free through government programming. A 28-day in-patient private program might cost $14,000, while more upscale programs can run as high as $20,000 a day.

    Family Support

    • A more successful drug rehab will include family counseling and support to help heal the dysfunction created by the drug addiction.

    Length of Program

    • Drug rehab programs vary in length. Some programs are outpatient, meeting two to three times a week. Most residential (in-patient) programs range from 28 to 31 days, but the most successful rehab programs help the addict return to the real world and extend beyond 31 days.

    Staff Qualifications

    • When searching for a drug rehab, check the qualifications of the staff. While including former addicts as counselors can be a positive influence, the staff should also include medical professionals.

    Success Rate

    • Success rates of drug rehabs vary by program. According to Drug-Rehabs.org, which is a non-profit social betterment organization, typical success rates are between 2 percent and 20 percent. However, some drug rehabs report success rates as high as 75 percent.
