Hair Growth Products for Black Women
Hair growth is slower in a black woman's hair due to its thicker texture. The hair is often coarse and dry, but using certain hair tools, shampoos and conditioners can help increase hair growth in black women. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Silk Wrap Caps
-
Use silk wrap caps instead of cotton wrap caps to help hair grow. Cotton tends to pull out hair at night, especially with active sleepers, but silk wraps protect the natural oils and reduce breakage.
Leave-in Conditioners
-
Leave-in conditioners moisten, detangle and protect black hair, making it grow quicker. Natural and botanical oils also hydrate black hair, making it grow in healthier.
-
Hair Oil
-
Hair oil products such as Luster's Pink Lotion and Parnevu oil keep the scalp moist and help eliminate dandruff. Apply oil to the scalp once every one to two weeks to eliminate flakes.
Anti-Dandruff Shampoos
-
Dandruff causes the scalp to itch and may also cause a rash, which can cause hair loss. By using anti-dandruff shampoos such as Pantene Anti-Dandruff Shampoo for Women of Color, dandruff won't build up and hair will continue to grow.
Multivitamins
-
Vitamins can increase hair growth, especially multivitamins that include vitamins B12, B6 and B1, which also moisten and protect skin.
Correct Combs
-
For a wrap hairstyle, use a feather comb rather than a fine-toothed comb. Feather combs will help detangle hair and are less likely to pull it out.

brato11981 is completely right. products such as pink oil moisturizer contain petroleum and mineral oil which clogs the the pathway for hair follicles to grow. Using oils such as coconut or jojoba are much better for the scalp because they are closer to the oil our scalp naturally secretes. Also, everyone's hair grows about a half an inch per month no matter what race you are. Of course it depends on the person and no one is exactly the same - but proper care plays a huge role is what you actually see at the end of the month. Coloring, Relaxing, and Flat ironing are stressful on the hair and will damage it no matter what. The key is to keep your hair clean, moisturized, and protected so that the damage is minimal -

Hairhowto, you do make a good point. Everybody's hair is different. Whereas products like Pink Lotion haven't slowed down hair growth for me, it may have for brato11981. And not every hair type is the same because I have cousins who are of mixed ancestry who find products like Pink Lotion and so forth better to use than those with a thicker grade of hair. -

Thank you for providing this detailed info. Black women have different hair types, and although our challenges are similiar, not everything works the same on everyone's hair. I enjoyed the info you provided:-) I did want to share my personal hair growth experience with SULU Max Grow has provided to be a great product for me. They also make something called MTG which helps hair growth too. Many women on discussion boards and You Tube videos have shared their experiences as well. It's all about finding what works for you. Thanks again.
