Exercise Machines to Flatten the Abs
One of the most prized and sought after muscle groups that people work on are the abdominals. People are always trying to flatten their stomachs and see definition in this area. When it comes to working them, there are a thousand ways to do a thousand exercises with a thousand variations that require nothing more than a body and about 6 feet of floor space. Then on the other side of the ab flattening format are the exercise machines.

The abs are responsible for a multitude of movements throughout the course of a day. Simple things like getting up out of a chair, reaching for the telephone and putting a can on a shelf all engage the abdominal muscles.

There are quite a few different ab machines on the market. There are machines that could be found at gyms and there are machines that can be used at home.
Ab Crunch Machine

An ab crunch machine is found at a gym. You sit in an adjustable chair and perform abdominal crunches. The weight can also be adjusted to increase the intensity. This machine primarily works the upper abdominals.
Torso Rotation

This machine is also found at a gym. You kneel on this machine with your chest against a pad and hands holding on to handles. You then twist from side to side. This machine particularly works the obliques which are on the sides of the ribcage.
Decline Bench

This is a bench that is angled downward. You sit on it and hook your feet under two pads to hold yourself in place. You then perform crunches. this machine works your lower abdominal area.
Identification

Home ab machines are also very popular. One in particular is called an Ab Dolly. You put your arms across a little dolly that has wheels and push it out in front of the body. There are many variations that can be done with it and they can also work the uppers, lowers and obliques. (See Resources.)
