Car crashes are the leading cause of death of children ages two to fourteen. Improperly installed car seats are one of the causes for those deaths. Do you know if your car seat is installed properly? Don't wait for an accident to find out if your infant car seat is installed correctly. Have you car seat inspected today by a certified child technician.

    How

  1. Go to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website to find an inspection location near you. The link is listed in Resources.
  2. When

  3. Have your car seat inspected before you have your baby. After one year, once you have moved into a forward facing car seat, have the car seat re-inspected.
  4. Where

  5. Look for safety fairs sponsored by local fire departments or cities. Some will do on-site inspections without appointments.
  6. Options

  7. If you have a large group of parents that would like inspections, call your local car seat inspection installation to see if they will come out to your group.
  8. Warnings

  9. Most child car seat inspection technicians will tell you they rarely find a car seat installed correctly. Even if your car seat is installed correctly, if you don't buckle your child in, it is useless. Buckle it up every time.
