    • Consuming chemicals, processed foods and other harmful toxins cause our bodies to malfunction. Weight gain, constipation and decreased bodily functions occur when toxins and metabolic waste are not properly cleansed from the body. Fruit detoxification is a popular method used to achieve a cleansed digestive system.

    Haves vs. Have Nots

    • The fruit detox diet allows daily consumption of as many fruits, freshly squeezed fruit juices and smoothies as desired. These fruits include, but are not limited to, apples, oranges, grapes, blackberries, strawberries, pears, cantaloupe, bananas and grapefruit. Eat only fruit while on this plan.

    Roadblocks

    • Fruit detox programs are intended to last between three and seven days; with discipline, the diet can be followed for longer periods. Eliminate potential setbacks by keeping fruit on hand for snacking. Eat until full and avoid eating other foods while detoxing.

    Misconceptions

    • The fruit detox plan does not provide long term weight loss, and is only intended to eliminate toxins and waste from the body. Although rapid weight loss may occur in the beginning stages, be advised that a gradual weight gain will occur upon completion of the program.

    Considerations

    • Drink plenty of water. If you stop the program before its completion, you must begin the process all over again. Research fruits and their nutritional properties to find a well-balanced assortment.
