- Pergo is composed of four layers: a durable wear layer, a layer of kraft paper imprinted with a design, medium-density fiberboard and a core backing material. Medium-density fiberboard cannot tolerate high levels of moisture. Therefore, all maintenance should be done with minimal water or other fluids.
- The manufacturer recommends quick sweeping or light vacuuming on a daily basis. It also recommends damp mopping occasionally.
- Pergo AB does not recommend using soaps, detergents, or cleaners that contain wax.
- Tar, nail polish, markers and minor cigarette burns can be removed with Pergo's special cleaner or a homemade formula. To make your own cleaner, combine 1 gallon of water with 1 cup of white vinegar and 1/2 cup of ammonia.
- Pergo floors cannot be waxed, polished, sanded, or refinished. Pergo AB cautions against using jet mops on the flooring.
