When it comes to security and personal privacy online, spyware is the enemy. You don't want it on your computer, and you need trustworthy software programs to remove the infections. All the options provided here are free to download and will not infect your computer with more spyware or adware. Links for each program are provided in the Resources section.

    Spybot

  1. Spybot is a free spyware removal program available from Safer-networking.org. They accept donations for their service, but none are required.
  2. Ad-Aware

  3. Ad-Aware privacy software is offered for free at Lavasoft.com. They also have Plus and Pro editions which are upgrades for sale.
  4. Spyware Doctor

  5. The Spyware Doctor at Pctools.com has a free and a paid version. It is also available through Google as part of their free service pack for Gmail account holders.
  6. Ccleaner

  7. Ccleaner is a freeware privacy software program available at Ccleaner.com. It will also clean up a PC's registry.
  8. AVG

  9. AVG is anti-virus software that will also remove spyware and has many other security features. There is a free 30-day trial version at Avg.com.
