Rules for Hillbilly Golf
Hillbilly Golf is a lawn game in which you try to throw bolos onto a three rung ladder. Bolos are short pieces of rope with golf balls attached on either side. At the end of a game of Hillbilly Golf, the winner is the first player to score 21 points exactly, using a standard scoring system.

Standard Scoring
-
Typical scoring in Hillbilly Golf awards three points for landing a playing piece known as a bolo on the top rung, two points for one on the second rung, and one point for landing one on the third rung.
Popular Home Scoring Variations
-
After playing Hillbilly Golf, you will find that it's easier to land bolos on the top rung than on the lower rungs. Based on that fact, many prefer to make the bottom rung worth three points and the top rung worth just one point.

Methods For Throwing The Bolo In Hillbilly Golf
-
When tossing a bolo, there are two common methods. The first is to hold one of the golf balls and to let the other dangle, tossing the bolo underhand with a flick of the wrist. The other method is to hold the middle of the rope between your thumb and index finger and toss it.
Penalties For Going Over The Winning Score of 21
-
In the standard variation of Hillbilly Golf, if a player goes over 21 on their turn, their score reverts back to their previous round's score. A different way to play this is by having a player's point total count as a negative score for that round if he goes over the winning total of 21. A player who had 17 and scores five would have his score revert to 12 instead of remaining 17.
Distance Scoring
-
You can award bonus points based on difficulty for distances. Set up three foul lines, one at 15 feet, one at 20 and one at 25. Make each rung with an additional point for tosses from 20 feet, and two additional points from 25 feet.
