Foods to Treat Psoriasis
Psoriasis can become inflamed easily, and certain foods can help soothe a psoriasis outbreak and make psoriasis better. Psoriasis is caused by the skin overproducing skin cells and creating plaques and scales on the skin. Here are a few foods that are used to treat psoriasis.
-
Oily Fish
-
Oily fish such as salmon, halibut and snapper contain omega fatty acids that help heal psoriasis.
Flaxseed
-
Flaxseed or flaxseed oil are also rich in the omega fatty acids. You can take flaxseed oil by the spoonful or eat flaxseed on yogurt or in baked goods.
-
Cereal
-
Cereals have been seen to reduce psoriasis because they can be fortified with folic acid. Folic acid has a healing effect on psoriasis.
Broccoli
-
Broccoli is also high in folic acid, although in broccoli it is seen in its natural state, folate.
Fiber
-
Make sure that you are eating a diet rich in fiber. Psoriasis can go into remission faster when on a fiber-rich diet.
