Rules for Playing Bumper Pool
Bumper pool is a unique version in the pool or billiards family. Bumper pool is played using pool sticks just like the ones in pool or billiards table games, but that is where the similarities end. In bumper pool, you shoot your balls directly into the hole instead of shooting one ball to hit another into the hole. You can even play defense by knocking your opponent's ball into a tough position.
-
Setting Up
-
To start a game of bumper pool, each of the two players or two teams chooses a color ball and places their five balls on the table on the starting marks opposite the scoring hole for that color.
Starting Bumper Pool
-
Each player places her spotted cue ball in front of the scoring hole on her side. Both players hit their spotted cue ball at the same time and must bounce it off the table edge to their right side to try to get it in the scoring hole on the other side of the table.
-
Order Of Turns
-
The player who had his spotted cue ball end closest to his scoring hole goes first. He continues to shoot until he fails to shoot a ball into his scoring hole. Then it's the other player's turn.
Penalties
-
Shooting your ball off the table requires it to be placed in the center of the table, and then the other player takes his turn. Hitting another player's ball off the table requires you to return it to the original spot and place one of your balls in the center of the table.
Hitting Ball Into Wrong Scoring Hole
-
If you hit your ball into the wrong scoring hole, it counts, but the opponent gets to place two of his balls in the scoring hole by hand. If you sink your last ball in the wrong hole, you lose.
