Foods That Cleanse the Liver

The liver is an essential organ that often comes into contact with toxins. This is because the liver is responsible for filtering out toxins and cleansing the body. Sometimes the liver needs some help. You can cleanse your liver by adding the following foods to your everyday diet.

  1. Beets

    • These tasty root vegetables are full of antioxidants, such as B vitamins and folic acid. These prevent oxidative damage from occurring in the liver by combating free radical toxins.

    Tomatoes

    • Lycopene gives tomatoes their rich, red color. It's also a special, powerful antioxidant that targets toxins in the liver.

    Carrots

    • Beta carotene and other carotenoids act as antioxidants in the liver as well. Adding carrots to your diet will help clean out your liver, while also providing necessary nutrients like vitamin A.

    Lemons

    • Lemonade, lemon juice and lemons are high in vitamin C and are great for cleaning out your entire body.

    Berries

    • Strawberries, blueberries and other berries have some of the highest antioxidant counts around. Adding them to your regular diet supports your liver function.
