All Natural Treatment for Eczema in Cats

Eczema in your cat can be caused by allergies or flea bites. Whatever the cause, your pet may feel miserable. As you are trying to find the cause of his skin condition, get rid of any fleas he may have brought in from outside. If you don't want to use traditional medications because of potential reactions, consider herbal or homeopathic preparations for his skin. As always, check with your cat's veterinarian about the safety and efficacy of using herbal remedies.

  1. German Chamomile

    • German chamomile (Matricaria recutita) is an herbal preparation that soothes the angry, red and itchy skin characteristic of eczema. Apply this to your cat's skin and coat to help relieve her symptoms.

    Cleavers

    • Cleaver (Galium aperine) is a cleansing tonic that you can add to his food to help rid his system of toxins that may be causing his eczema. Check with your pet's veterinarian about how much you can give him.

    Marigold

    • Marigold (Calendula officinalis) is a soothing cream you can rub into your cat's skin and coat. It will help relieve the swelling and itching (see Resources).

    Witch Hazel

    • Witch hazel (Hamamelis verinianum) has the same effects as marigold. Rub it into your cat's skin for relief from itching and swelling.

    Graphites

    • Graphites relieves skin itching and swelling. It also promotes good skin health. Check with your pet's vet about the safety of using herbal preparations.
