Some athletes use creatine supplements, claiming to get the benefits of steroids without the nasty side effects. Unfortunately, the use of creatine supplements is the subject of much debate, and more research is needed before we can know all of the pros and cons of creatine. it is currently believed that creatine is relatively safe is used properly by people free of health problems.

Muscle Fatigue
-
When our muscles get tired, they release a chemical called lactic acid. Lactic acid is what makes us feel the burning sensation of muscle fatigue. Creatine has been shown to reduce lactic acid, and thereby reduce symptoms of muscle fatigue. This allows athletes to push themselves a bit harder than usual.
Muscle Mass
-
Creatine use has been shown to increase muscle mass. Some athletes feel this increased muscle mass is the result of longer and more strenuous workouts made possible by a reduction in muscle fatigue. However, some studies suggest that muscle mass is increased because creatine draws water into the muscles.
