About Cures for Emphysema

Emphysema is the inflammation of the lungs. This inflammation causes the elasticity of the lungs to break down. In this dilated state, the lungs become filled with air. Emphysema is a Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and the physical effects of emphysema on the lungs is considered irreversible. However, emphysema treatments can slow the progression of the disease and even improve overall lung function and capacity.

  1. Avoid Smoking

    • The main preventive cure of emphysema is to avoid smoking. Most cases of emphysema is caused by smoking. The lungs cannot tolerate long-term exposure to tobacco. Likewise, emphysema can also result from exposure to other chemicals, as well. Avoid chemicals and chemical sprays, as these directly affect the lungs.

    Weight and Clothes

    • Carrying excess body weight can have an adverse effect on emphysema. It strains the body and causes stress on the lungs. Losing excess body weight, or maintaining an ideal body weight, may drastically improve the symptoms of emphysema. Also, avoid wearing tight clothes that can restrict the breathing.

    Conventional Medicine

    • Emphysema is usually treated with aerosol medications and steroid medications, which open the lungs and promote increased air flow and breathing. Antibiotics prevent further infections in the damaged lungs, and other forms of medications open up the breathing pathways through dilation, to help the person breath more easily.

    Vitamins

    • The antioxidant qualities of vitamin E and vitamin C make them ideal supplements for treating emphysema. They can work to combat the oxidants in the lungs caused by cigarettes, to prevent them from further damaging the lungs.

    Juicing

    • A brief diet of strictly fresh vegetable and fruit juices can dramatically reverse some of the major symptoms of emphysema. These fruits and vegetables are loaded with vitamins, minerals, nutrients, enzymes and antioxidants that will give a lasting benefit to the health of the lungs. Cleansing the digestive system through bowel detoxification and enemas will also increase the body's absorption of the nutrients from these fresh fruit and vegetables.

    Solid Fruits and Vegetables

    • After juicing for a few days, the emphysema patient should replace their former diet with a natural diet, full of fruits, vegetables, grains, seeds and nuts. Honey, natural vegetable oils, and curdled milk products can be added as well. This short diet should then be followed up with healthier eating habits, and this routine can be repeated four times a year.

    Garlic and Lemon

    • Garlic and lemon both have a positive effect on emphysema. They each have hot and dry properties, can dissolve phlegm, and are anti-bacterial. They will also open up the airways of the lungs. Take two fresh garlic gloves every morning, and take fresh lemon juice throughout the day.
