Natural Psoriasis Treatment

Psoriasis is a condition in which skin cell reproduction occurs at an abnormally high rate. The exact cause remains unknown, but it is believed to be an autoimmune disorder. The excess skin production causes the cells to build up in layers, which leads to the silvery scales typical of the condition. The symptoms are severe itching and, in some cases, a form of inflammatory arthritis. There is no cure. Treatment is usually a topical cortical steroid cream. Capsaicin

Capsaicin, a compound found in chili peppers, has been demonstrated to be effective in reducing the pain of psoriasis. It has also been linked to a reduction in the scaling common in psoriasis. It is applied topically, usually in a cream.

Multi-vitamins

Vitamin A and zinc deficiencies are common among those with psoriasis. A daily multi-vitamin with minerals can help restore balance of vitamin A and zinc in the body.

Omega-3 Oils

Omega-3 oils, which can be obtained from fish and flax seed, help relieve the symptoms of psoriasis. These oils can be found in softgel capsules and flax seed oil can be added to food.

Silymarin

Silymarin, a flavonoid, improves liver functioning. It is also reduces inflammation and may even inhibit excess cell production. It can be taken as a tea, tincture or as a capsule.
