Food with Vitamins for Skin

Anyone wanting to add moisture to skin, eliminate blemishes and avoid signs of skin aging should eat foods containing vitamin C, E and K, all powerful antioxidants. These vitamins maintain younger-looking skin, reduce the formation of wrinkles, and prevent other aging-related skin problems. They strengthen skin tissue, protect elasticity and promote skin repair.

  1. Vitamin C

    • Foods rich in vitamin C include citrus fruits such as oranges, grapefruits and limes. This vitamin also is abundant in tomatoes and leafy green vegetables.

    Vitamin E

    • People can obtain vitamin E from leafy green vegetables also, along with lean meats and fish, almonds, sunflower seeds, wheat germ, beans and olive oil.

    Vitamin K

    • Those healthy green leafy vegetables also are a great source of vitamin K. This vitamin is especially abundant in kale, collard greens, spinach, and turnip greens. Vitamin K also can be obtained from broccoli, Brussels sprouts and asparagus.

    Flaxseed

    • Ground flaxseed is a super-food with antioxidants, Omega-3 fatty acids and all 10 essential amino acids, along with B-complex vitamins, vitamin E, and trace minerals. This high-powered combination is beneficial for keeping skin healthy.

    Selenium

    • The element selenium, which is necessary for skin cells to develop and reproduce, occurs in meat and seafood, Brazil nuts and whole wheat.
