Unusual Symptoms of Pregnancy
There are some symptoms of pregnancy that are recognized universally like morning sickness and missed periods. There are other, less common symptoms, though, that may also indicate pregnancy. Of course, if you suspect you might be pregnant, a home pregnancy test is an easy and usually accurate way to find out. In the meantime, you can see if you have any of the following unusual pregnancy symptoms.
-
Mood Swings
-
Although common for many pregnant women, mood swings are rarely cited as an early symptom. For some women though, sudden mood changes are their first indication of pregnancy.
Congestion
-
Some women experience nasal congestion during pregnancy that is unrelated to colds or allergies. This condition is called rhinitis of pregnancy and can also lead to increased snoring.
-
Cramps
-
Many women experience menstrual-like cramps during the early weeks of their pregnancy. These cramps are the result of the uterus stretching and expanding to make room for the growing baby.
Excess Gas
-
Gas is an unpleasant but very common symptom of pregnancy. As your progesterone level increases, digestion slows down, allowing gas to build up in your body.
Food Aversions
-
If the smell of your morning coffee makes your stomach turn or you can't stand the sight of scrambled eggs, you're not alone. The majority of pregnant women experience some sort of food aversion.
Spotting
-
When a fertilized egg implants into the uterus, some women will experience implantation bleeding. This spotting generally occurs around the time of your expected period or a few days before.
