Having healthy snack foods in the house for children is an important part of a parent's job. With the constant advertising for junk food, every child needs to be reminded that eating well is essential to living a long, healthy life. Start choosing healthy snack foods for children instead of sugar-filled garbage that can actually harm your child's health. Below are a few suggestions to help get you started.

  1. Fruits

    • Peaches, melons, berries, oranges, apples and other fruits are very healthy snack foods for children. Keep these cut up in the refrigerator so your child can easily grab his favorite fruit for a snack.

    Vegetables

    • Serve your child sliced cucumbers, broccoli, cauliflower or grape tomatoes and baby carrots for an after-school snack. Add a small amount of her favorite dressing for dipping the vegetables in.

    Yogurt
