Many stains can be treated and removed with common household products quickly, inexpensively and easily. When choosing the right stain remover, it is important to first identify the nature of the stain and the surface or fabric type. For the best results, treat stains before they have time to set or dry.

    Bleach

  1. Remove mold and mildew stains with a 50/50 mixture of water and chlorine bleach mixed in a spray bottle.
  2. Baking Soda

  3. Baking soda is a safe, effective, mildly abrasive stain remover and deodorizer. To remove stains, apply it with a damp sponge on kitchen and bath fixtures, refrigerators and freezers, coffee and tea pots, counters and dishes.
  4. Vinegar

  5. Use a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and warm water to remove hard water stains on shower doors, faucets or shower heads. Vinegar will also neutralize pet odors and aid in removing pet stains.
  6. Hairspray

  7. Use aerosol hairspray to treat ballpoint pen ink stains. Spray and blot with a clean cloth to remove stain before washing.
  8. Shampoo

  9. Use shampoo to pre-treat ring-around-the-collar, perspiration and blood stains on clothes before washing.
  10. Mouthwash

  11. Disinfect and clean your keyboard with a small, soft-bristle paint brush dampened with a 50/50 mixture of mouthwash and warm water. Remember to unplug keyboard before cleaning.
  12. W-D 40

  13. Remove scuff marks on floors, sticker residue and gum with W-D 40.
