Excessive Thirst

Because of the increased urination, dehydration becomes a problem. People with high blood sugar often feel very thirsty -- sometimes constantly.

Excessive Hunger

Because the body cannot process the glucose for energy properly, it continues feeling hungry even if the person ate recently.

Fatigue

Without that energy from the glucose, the person is likely to feel worn out and tired a lot. The higher the blood sugar, the less energy the person has.

Diabetic Ketoacidosis

One of the biggest risks of high blood sugar is diabetic ketoacidosis. This condition upsets the pH balance in the body and can lead to coma or death if left untreated.
