Contact Lens Solutions

Contact lenses must be soaked in a contact lens solution to maintain their hygiene, comfort and elasticity. Failure to use an appropriate contact solution can result in damage to the eye or to the contact lens, and failure to store or use properly can frequently result in eye infections.

Multipurpose solution

This is the most popular solution because of it's ease of use; it takes away the need for enzyme tablets that must be dissolved with the lens. This type of solution cleans, stores and disinfects the lens.

Saline Solution

Saline solution rinses and wets the contact but does not disinfect the lens. It is not recommended for use without a cleaner.

Daily Cleaning Solution

A few drops of solution are applied to the contact daily, and the contact must be gently rubbed for 20 seconds. This must be done to both contacts.

Hydrogen Peroxide Solution

Hydrogen peroxide solution is often used as a cleaner and storage solution, but contacts absolutely must be soaked and rinsed with a neutral saline solution or it may hurt the wearer.

Enzymatic Cleaner Tablets

These tablets are generally used weekly to remove protein build-up, but they can make the contact uncomfortable to wear and can also lead to eye problems.
