Age Requirements

The minimum allowable age is 17 with parental consent, and the maximum age for a non-prior service enlistee is now 42.
Citizenship

To be eligible for enlistment in the United States Army Reserve, you must be a citizen of the United States or a permanent resident alien.

Education

A high-school diploma is desired, but the Army Reserve does accept those with a GED as well.
ASVAB and AFQT

Those who score in AFQT Category V are ineligible to enlist. The AFQT is taken from the ASVAB score, and Category V scores are in the lowest 9 percent.
Health

You must be in good physical and mental health, and you must be free of infectious or contagious diseases.
Morals

You must be of good moral character, usually proved by a clean criminal background check. Some offenses are eligible for a waiver.
Dependents

The United States Army Reserve does not typically accept applications from married persons with more than two dependents, or single persons with any dependents.

I want to go in the service so bad, I'm going to try the army reserves only reason is because I have a ged. the marines shot me down because of that. I just want to fight for my country.

I had the privilidge or entering the USCGR as a PS1 promotes to a P2! After 9/11 I was made a sea marshal in addition to a port securityman, I ws tasked with both duties. We worked 36 hrs on and 6 hrs off - even if you lived a hour across the river. Please help me get my retirement (PHPD 2/8/84 and date of somewhat discharge 2/24/84. If I need a few months to get these benefits in in order. please take your times. I've waited long enough for what me countrery did to me.
