Warning Signs of Eating Disorders
Eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa and bulimia involve a distorted perception of body shape and weight. Sufferers of anorexia nervosa avoid eating, whereas bulimics engage in binge eating typically followed by methods to eliminate the food from their bodies such as by vomiting or using laxatives. It is important to know the warning signs in order to help others who may be at risk, because they are often in denial.

Weight Loss

A sudden, unexplained drop in weight can be a sign of an eating disorder. Extreme weight loss beyond 85 percent of the normal body weight for individuals of the same age and height.
