Denali National Park is a major tourist attraction in the heart of Alaska. The star of Denali National Park is the mountain Denali (otherwise known as Mt. McKinley), the tallest mountain in North America. If you'd like to visit Denali National Park, you have several lodging options. Your choice depends on how much time you'd like to spend in the park.

    Transport

  1. There is only one road in Denali National Park and you can't drive your car on most of it. Instead, tour buses transport visitors, or you can bike or walk.
  2. Park Lodging

  3. If you'd like to stay in or near Denali National Park, you can stay at the park entrance at the head of the road or near the road's end in Kantishna.
  4. Park Entrance

  5. Staying near the park entrance allows you to choose from more vacation activities, such as golfing, kayaking and shopping. It also saves time if you're planning to see other parts of Alaska. Hotels include the Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge, the McKinley Village Lodge, and the McKinley Chalet Resort (see Resources for prices).
  6. Kantishna

  7. While wilderness lodges in Kantishna cost more, you will be closer to views of Denali and you also can explore the park without relying on the tour bus system to get you back to shelter. Lodges include the Camp Denali Lodge and the Kantishna Roadhouse (see Resources for prices).
  8. Fun Fact

  9. Kantishna is an old gold rush town. You can still pan for gold in the creeks around the area.
